How the Lakers should approach free agency

If the Lakers are to make a post-season run, they would have to have some depth. As currently constructed with Anthony Davis coming in, they don’t have much of a roster. The NBA season is a grind and that doesn’t include the playoffs. The playoffs is a whole different beast. I believe it would be wise to split up the remaining cap space and go after one or two really solid bench players. Some of the names that have been rumored to be on the Lakers list are: Patrick Beverly, DeAndre Jordan, Brooke Lopez, Danny Green, JJ Redick, and Bogdan Bogdanović just to name a few. The Lakers desperately need shooting and some of those players listed can help in a big way. The lone young Laker left is Kyle Kuzma who could possibly be the 3rd option on offense, but they’d need more shooting. The Lakers hope to find a diamond in the rough with their current draft pick in Talent Horton-Tucker and undrafted guard Zach Norvell, both which the Lakers have regarded as very talented and can shoot the ball. The Lakers already have a deadly one-two punch with James and Davis. Adding another star into the mix maybe a little too much and there’s only one ball to share.

We really don’t know what the Lakers will do until free agency begins in just 8 days. The Lakers are sometimes known to make bold moves and go for it in a city that craves the star power. But with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, I believe they already have the star power they need. The only thing left is surrounding them with the pieces needed to compete for a title.
