With the Lakers losing to the Jazz in last night’s game, the Lakers have an overall record of 35-23. As of right now, the Lakers are the 5th seed in the Western Conference. They are currently clinging to that spot with the Portland Trailblazers, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies all right behind them.
The Lakers have tried to tread water while their two main superstars have been out due to injuries. They have done an admirable job with role players asked to play a much bigger role and be inserted into which seems to be multiple starting lineups. Talent Horton-Tucker, Caldwell-Pope, Schroder and others have benefited from much more playing time. This will certainly help in the long run when Davis and James return. Speaking of which, according to Liz Roscher of Yahoo Sports, “Lakers head coach Frank Vogel gave an update about Davis’ progress on Monday, and said they’re aiming for him to return on Thursday when the Lakers take on the Dallas Mavericks.”
Lakers will finally have some help coming soon, and Davis will provide some much needed offense and defense. It will take some time for Davis to be in full tilt with just a handful of games left in the season. For Davis his stats are as follows: 22ppg, 8.4rpg, 3.0apg. The same could be said about LeBron James who could possibly return in a week or so. The Lakers could likely have a lineup of Schroder, Caldwell-Pope, James, Davis, Drummond once everyone is healthy. That could be a formidable team for anyone to handle. We will have to see what happens, but it’s good to see the Lakers return to full health just in time for the postseason.
