Lamar Odom is and has always been one of the most beloved members of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, and now he may get to retire as one.
At some point, Odom will come full circle in Los Angeles, with plans being discussed for him to sign a contract to retire as a Laker in training camp.
Charania quoted Odom on the matter:
“My family looks forward to me retiring as a Laker more than me,” Odom told The Vertical. “I’m not really emotional about being praised, about signing for a day. I’m shy at the end of the day. For my son, for my family, for my fans, they may enjoy that day. It’s for them.”
Having Odom officially retire will certainly be important to Laker fans. Odom was a key piece in L.A.’s last title run when the Lakers won back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.

Odom was a do-it-all player for L.A. At the height of his career his versatility was unmatched. You could compare Odom in his prime to the likes of Swiss army knife Draymond Green.
Although he may not be as high up as Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Odom will go down as one of the greatest players in Laker history. Signing him to a one-day contract in training camp is a classy move by the organization that all of Laker Nation will appreciate.
