When you think of Andrew Bogut, you don’t really think of a dominant big man. Instead, you think of a player that has had a solid NBA career. Recently, Bogut agreed to a 1-year veterans minimum deal worth $2.3 mil with the Los Angeles Lakers. You might be thinking to yourself–well what about Zubac? Isn’t he the backup center to Lopez? Zubac had a mediocre summer league and the Lakers wanted to sure up the center position. Zubac is still young and needs time to develop. Bogut did talk to several teams according to ESPN but picked to sign with the Lakers.
Bogut is a solid center that can protect the rim and can rebound well. He was all-defensive 2nd team in 2015. In his career, Bogut has averaged 1.9 blocks per game and 8.9 rebounds per game. Having two centers that can play solid defense is always a plus. Bogut, along with Lopez can help the Lakers where they’ve struggled for quite some time now–and that is on the defensive end. It’s no secret that the Lakers have been one of the worst when it comes to defense. Bogut can clog up the paint, and prevent some penetration. Bogut will impact the Lakers is a good way helping them win some extra games, and his experience in the league will only help with the young Lakers.
