Lakers get a comeback win against the Bobcats 100-93
The Lakers started off this game like they did the last game in Boston. It was very sloppy from the get-go, and I thought that this was another repeat of a terrible game. The defense in the first half was simply atrocious. The Lakers were out of sync, and had way too many defensive lapses in the paint. Fortunately for the Lakers, they turned up the defense in the second half and came out with the victory. There were six Laker players in double figures with Kobe Bryant leading the way with 20 points. Clark and Nash each contributed 17 points, Howard with 12, Metta with 11, and Meeks with 14 off the bench.
Howard who was still nursing his injured shoulder had a double double. The effort from him was there tonight. The Lakers have been giving up early leads during these road games. They seem to put themselves in a whole, then have to dig themselves out late in games. A win is a win, but it certainly takes a lot of energy for them to pull out these sort of victories. Walker and Mullens did the high scoring for the Bobcats who gave the Lakers all they could handle. The Lakers always seem to have trouble winning in Charlotte. This team has to find a way to generate leads quickly, and sustain them.
The Lakers made their biggest run at the end of the third quarter, and for most of the fourth. It was great to see the team not fold under pressure, and to come back for this gutsy win. The Lakers definitely have the talent to win, but they must do it at a consistent basis. Their biggest test on this seven-game road trip will come on Sunday against the defending champion Miami Heat. Lakers are currently 4-2 on their trip and will try to finish on a positive note by trying to beat Miami.
