Lakers get big road win in Brooklyn, 92-83
The Lakers found out that they couldn't play without World Peace due to a 1 game suspension given by the NBA for the incident in Detroit with Brandon Knight. They also didn't have their big man back either. You would think going against Brooklyn in their arena would be a tough task. The Lakers accepted the challenge and put on quite a show. Kobe Bryant had two highlight reels, one which he crossed-over Wallace and another dunking on Humphries and Wallace. The energy was there for the Lakers from start to finish. Their effort and hustle really cemented the win for them. Bryant led the way with 21pts, 8rbs and 4ast. Four Lakers were in double digits. The bench combined for 16pts.
Brooklyn just couldn't convert easy shots and layups. They struggled from the field, and the Lakers took advantage. It was a big win for the Lakers on this 7-game road trip. They are now 3-1, and looking to add to that in their next game against the rival Boston Celtics on Thursday. The short-handed Lakers played with a lot of urgency, and its something we're not accustomed to seeing this season. The Lakers had a double digit lead, only to see it dwindle away. The Lakers have had trouble sustaining leads this season, but they closed the game out very well.
There was some bad news for the team, when Gasol what looked like a rolled ankle in the 4th quarter, headed to the locker room and didn't return. Gasol was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis strain (right foot). He said that he needed some crutches to leave the arena. Definitely not a good sign for a team who has been riddled with injuries all season. Gasol will get an MRI tomorrow in Boston. Hopefully, the injury he sustained won't keep him out too long.
