Lakers finally win one, beat the Jazz 104-84
After coming back home from a dismal road showing, the Lakers got back on the winning track. Bryant took on the role of facilitator. He got his teammates engaged from the start and everyone benefited. Bryant almost had a triple-double, just falling one rebound shy. He finished with 14pts, 14ast, and 9rbs. It was imperative that the Lakers had to get the ball in the paint. They certainly fixed that problem tonight.
Howard, who has been blamed for some of the Lakers' defensive woes, came out with great energy and was active all night. He finished with a double-double (17pts, 13rbs). The rest of the Lakers followed suit. Both Gasol and Nash had 15pts, and Metta contributed 17pts. All around, it was a great effort tonight by the Lakers who looked frustrated in previous games. The bench, who have been non-existent lately came to life with 32pts combined. If the Lakers are going to keep winning, they have to come out with a sense of urgency and consistency.
Another test arrives on Sunday, when the OKC Thunder pay another visit to Staples Center. The last time the two teams met, the Thunder steam rolled over the Lakers. Can the Lakers pull out a win this time? If they do, its a step in a positive direction.
