Lakers defeat Hornets 111-106
The Los Angeles Lakers have won their third straight game in a row. Kobe Bryant continues to be the facilitator for the team, and once again almost had a triple-double. Bryant ended up with 14 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. His numbers in the past three games are almost staggering. Six Laker players were in double digits. Forward Earl Clark just continues to impress as he contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds. The bench was sparked by Jamison and Meeks who combined for 29 points.
Ball movement was key in this game and the Lakers certainly did move it. There were extra passes and Laker players were finding wide-open shots. Passing has become contagious for the Lakers, and now every player is reaping the rewards. Seeing Kobe Bryant sacrifice his game has been tremendous. It makes the Lakers a more dangerous team when he can be a triple threat. He commands so much attention, that it's hard for the opponents to gauge whether or not he's going to pass or score.
The Lakers will embark on the "Grammy trip", which is usually the longest road trip of the season for them. They will go on the road for seven games starting at Phoenix tonight. After that they will go to Minnesota, Detroit, Brooklyn, Boston, Charlotte, and finally ending it against the world champion Miami Heat. This will be the toughest test of the season for the Lakers, because I believe this will make or break their season. Can they do it? Sure they can. They're going to have to come out with better focus, intensity, heart, and passion. For this team to get into the playoffs and beyond, they are definitely going to have to win games on the road.
